FACULTY TRAVEL FUNDS APPLICATION
(Updated for 2026-2027 FY)
Professional Development Travel Funds support faculty participation in conferences, workshops, and other professional learning activities that strengthen instructional and program effectiveness within a faculty member's current assignment, maintain current academic, technical, or industry knowledge, improve student learning outcomes, and support curriculum development within the faculty member's area of expertise. Activities that lead to academic units, degrees, certificates, licenses, or credentials resulting in salary advancement, column advancement, step advancement, or qualification for additional teaching assignments, disciplines, or programs are not eligible for funding through Professional Development Travel Funds. Faculty pursuing these types of activities should seek alternative, district-approved funding sources.
-
Full-Time Faculty: up to $1,500 per person toward approved professional development conferences and workshops.
-
Part-Time Faculty: up to $750 per person toward approved professional development conferences and workshops.
-
Approved funds are awarded up to once per year, on a first-come, first-served basis and are available while funding remains for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Due to increased funding and a strong rise in faculty interest, the Professional Development Committee has introduced a streamlined, application and approval process for the 2026–2027 academic year. This form replaces the previous paper application. The new process works as follows:
-
Faculty submit the application, and once approved faculty will be awarded a FOAP to use for the Pre-approval in Chromeriver. *A pre-approval is required.
-
Faculty Travel Applications are due by the second Wednesday of the month, to be voted on at that months committee meeting.
-
The PD Travel Funds Workgroup reviews and votes on all submitted applications at the PD Committee.
-
Once approved the applicant will be notified by the PD Coordinator.
The application window for the 2026–2027 academic year opens September 9, 2026, and closes April 7, 2027. The final voting cycle for the year takes place April 14, 2027, at which point applications for 2026–2027 will be closed. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit early, as funds are limited and awarded first-come, first-served.
NOTE: Any activities resulting in academic units, degrees, certificates, licenses, or credentials for salary/column/step advancement are NOT eligible for professional development funds).
